What is Ignorance, and why it will affect us

When I was a kid I thought "what is the worst thing in this world?" You bet it, ignorance was my answer.
Actually if we consider ignorance not merely worlding knowledge, then it may also apply to the way we live, how we integrate with our community, and what is our contribution to it.

To me ignorance is a lack of knowledge that can negatively impact a person, driving man away from human values. If we don't know Physics we can still be healthy, but if we don't know that being aggressive will hit back, soon or later that will impact our life.
Respect, tolerance, peace, and non-Violence are all part of human values.

But there is more to it. We don't live in isolation.
Countries need to trade with others if they want to thrive, and on a smaller scale, individuals too need to work together if they want to thrive. We see this behavior even in Nature, as most animals have a social life.

If we think of the world population as interconnected, this means that everyone has the potential to affect each other, and this is true in any community, no matter how large or small.
For instance take Facebook. This social network encourage you to share personal details with the rest of the community, but sharing content is not always a good idea, as it may impact your privacy. So knowledge is an instrument that can be used to help or to harm others, but as per our definition, worldly knowledge is not enough to get rid of ignorance.

If a Nobel prize winner engage in harmful actions or thoughts, we can say that his way of living is not following the human values, and his community will probably be not very happy about him.
In this case we see how a person with harmful thoughts could soon or later develop harmful actions that will affect himself and others. I think a primary role of any society should be to educate people to respect and practice the human values, since they are the foundation of the human being, and will help to build a better society designed to prevent, rather than to retaliate.
